7th year of liberty (referring to the establishment of the French First Republic).

Occupied by the armies of the French Revolution in January 1799, Naples becomes a new republic whose constitution is modeled on the French model. The frail Neapolitan Republic is nevertheless obliged to capitulate June 19, 1799 before the troops of Cardinal Ruffo. The arrival of Nelson June 25 rushes atrocities against the French garrison and the Republicans who were massacred while Ferdinand IV was restored to his throne. (Taken from CGB.fr website)
